WHATS IT LIKE TO BE INJURED
Nobody likes to think about or be injured. We all want to be healthy in our lives. But unfortunately no matter how much we may do to prevent injury, it still seems to occur in some way, whether it is a small injury or a large injury. Most people will live long and productive lives without so much as a major injury or bump in the road so to speak. Minor scrapes and bruises here and there along the way make up their injury list, maybe the odd burn, cut, or slice.
Then there are those whom seem to be prone to injury. Every time you turn around, these people seem to have something else wrong with them. Whether it is a broken arm, a sprained ankle, a sore neck, or a bum knee ( from a skiing accident, or a work out session, where they may have originally injured the body part). These people appear to have chronic injuries, which plague them all of their lives, or so it seems to those of us whom know them well.
So that leaves the people in the middle, whom go through life not necessarily being too cautious, but enjoy the activities and functions of everyday living. Then, out of the blue, an injury will occur that will change the way that they perform and live their everyday life. This can be so altering that it changes your personality, your stress level, your whole outlook on life!
So why am I using this blog to talk about injuries? What experience do I have with this particular topic you may ask? Well, I was in a serious Motor Vehicle accident just over 1 year ago, and it has changed my life to such a degree. Things are not what they used to be and I will explain about this more in future posts.
Without getting into the gory details, I suffered a broken left leg, a concussion, a broken finger, and some internal injuries. I have yet to fully recover from these injuries, and whether I will be 100 per cent back to the old way I was, I have my doubts. But having been totally healthy and in excellent shape before this accident, I now have learned to appreciate life to its fullest. Being injured is no fun at all, but if you deal with your injuries and your treatments with a positive attitude, the long road of recuperation and well being will be easier to navigate!
